LEAGUE & COMPETITION RULES 2010

1)    Teams to consist of six or more players.  The minimum age shall be sixteen years unless accompanied by an adult

 

2)    The format of play will be three doubles matches, followed by six singles matches.  Doubles playing best of three legs 501 points, singles playing best of three legs 401 points. Players to start and end each leg with a double.

 

3)    Points will be awarded as follows: 1 point per win for each game played in singles and doubles, best of three legs.  2 points for winning the match outright.  This will mean that a total of 11 points are available.  Captains to hand in sheets.

 

4)    The minimum throw shall be 7’ 9¼‘’.

 

5)    The draw for the match will take place at 8:30pm and play will commence no later than 08:45pm.  The teams to be drawn out by both captains.  Play will be continuous.  All players entered in the draw must be at the venue by the time the last singles game is to be played.  If the said player(s) have not arrived at this time then the individual game is to be forfeited and the points clamed.

 

6)    After the first four league games (unless special circumstances) players shall be allowed to register, up to and including the last game of the first half of the season.  Players from any team pulling out of the league cannot register for another team until the following season.

 

7)    A minimum of 48 hours notice is to be observed for any games being cancelled.  Games can only be cancelled under special circumstances.  League secretary to decide.   All game to be played by the last match of the season, which cannot be cancelled.  K.O. Cup games cannot be cancelled.  If any team cancel’s in the K.O. Cup the other team automatically advances to the next round.

 

8)    Any team claiming a game will be awarded 6 points with a 2 point bonus, a total of 8 points.  The team being claimed against will receive 0 points (so it might be in the interest of the two teams to play the game). 

 

9)    The league shall be run with two divisions, 1 & 2.  Promotion and relegation will apply on a two up two down basis using the previous league standings, this is dependant on the number of teams and who enter the league.

 

10) In the event of teams tying for 1st and 2nd place, the teams concerned will play-off.  The play-off date cannot be cancelled.

 

11) The captain’s cup will be played as a venue.

 

12) Any player playing in the doubles is eligible to play in the singles (if not already playing in the singles) in the event of a player not turning up.  One named reserve on the sheet can play. 

 

13) In the event of any team only having 5 players for a match.  The opposing captain will redraw 1 player to play twice in the singles.  The doubles game is to be forfeited and the point’s claimed.  This is to avoid teams deliberately turning up with 5 players and executing this rule to their advantage. E.g. you can only redraw in the singles NOT the doubles. 

 

14) Result sheets and competition entry forms are not to contain just first names or nicknames, all names are to be written in the format of an initial and surname. E.g.     A Smith.

 

15) Any complaints regarding the league procedures shall go in writing to the league secretary.  No complaints on day of a match after 7:30pm.  No other correspondence will be entered into.

 

16) The Semi-Finals for the K.O. Cup will be played at natural venues these will be chosen by the league committee before the games are to be played and the teams will be notified.  The game is to be played with alternate start and alternate chalker’s from each team as there no home or away team.  In the event of the game reaching 4 all the final game is to be stared will a bull up.

 

17) The finals for all competitions will be played in the function room at the Danish Invader; this also includes the KO cup final regardless of which teams have qualified.

 

18) The headquarters of the league will be the LORD BURGHLEY. All results sheets to be handed by the Friday following the previous league game. NO SHEETS, NO POINTS (this rule also includes competitions).

 

19) The league secretary’s fee shall be £120 per season.

 

20) The committee’s decision will be final.
